About the Book

Molecular Biology s influence the man in several ways. The diversity of their activities varies from causing diseases in human & other Animals and plants to the production of various useful products, recovery of metals, increasing in soil fertility. Recently it has also become possible to manipulate bacteria and other microbes to produce substances using Genetic Engineering technology.

This Book "Microbiology : Current Trends" contains 20 articles on different areas of Microbiology including agriculture, industry, Medical science, bioremediation and molecular aspects. Topic on agricultural microbiology includes articles on the Biochemistry and molecular Biology of nitrogen fixation; How bacteria can benefit cereals & other non-legumes; Rhizobium : A way forward to Agriculture biotechnology. In the section of environmental microbiology article on Microbial bioremediation; Microsome technology for biodegradation of xenobiotics of health & environmental concern; Biomethanation of organic wastes- achievement and perspectives; Textile effluents & their microbial bioremediation provide excellent information on the subject. The book incorporate articles on Biological control of plant pathogens; Role of pectolytic and cellulolytic enzymes in the process of pathogenesis; Plant parasitic nematodes : A constraint to the productivity of pulses & their Management options. Under food microbiology section articles on Mushroom cultivation; Mushroom research : Present status & future needs; Role of microbial community in advancement of mushroom composting; Spirulina : Biology, production and nutrition provides exhaustive information on the applied value of fungi & algae. Article on food fermentation technology; Enhancement of activity of a metallolipase of Bacillus coagulans; Actinomycetes : Diversity & their importance & interest resources for mycologists have added value to the book.

This book will be useful to researchers, teachers & students of Microbiology, Biotechnology, Botany, Agriculture & Zoology and for the industry people at large.
